As the card lay, it doesn’t matter where declarer starts the trumps, if west wins with his stiff ace and gives east a ruff. I that case, he is ruffing with his natural trump trick, and he is ruffing air. No, east must decline to ruff.
Of course, Bobby’s line of play obviates that. It doesn’t matter whether east ruffs or not.

Hi Robert,
Yes, it is a privilege to set up hands where, like in a long ago fairy tale, the good guys, either immediately or eventually always win.
Sometimes, but not always, in real life happy turns out to be sad, but in retrospect, if one avoids error on the way to failure, it, in almost every case, creates a better mood for our hero.
Somewhat, at least on paper, sort of worthless, but nevertheless and never forget, the law of averages (a good friend to have), takes full note of the circumstances and thus, at least it says here, will make it up to the unlucky loser,
except, of course, of poor Jim2, the known permanent victim of the TOCM TM, horrific bridge virus.
If everything averages out in bridge luck, than everyone else is benefiting from my sustained poor luck.
Hi Pal,
Everyone has heard of all for one. You represent
a higher authority, one for all.
Just think how you have almost destroyed the law of averages, not to mention Jim2’s luck matters, even if it is all bad.
