Hi Bobby,
I love the quote today (from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, translated by Edward Fitzgerald I expect) but a more games based one (albeit not bridge) is:
“Tis all a Chequer-board of nights and days. Where Destiny with men for Pieces plays: Hither and thither moves, and mates, and slays, And one by one back in the closet lays.”
Sobering stuff, or maybe it will drive us all to drink instead at the moment.
Regards,
Iain
Hi Iain,
You nailed it. Sobering, even while drinking.
However, when declarer triumphed in
today’s thought, hither and thither, he would not want to cancel any part, but rather choose smiles to warm his heart.
