HI Bobby,
One other possibility in favour of playing the S9 is that West with SQxx might decide his partner has SA alone or similar and duck. Difficult to be too critical although East would probably disagree.
Regards,
Iain
Hi Iain,
You remain dependable as always, spotting the larger than life, emotional side of our game,
However, in truth, competitive tournament bridge lends itself to such exercises, with the winners, both at the table, and likely while indeed just living life, and at the very least, just attempting to react to what could be successful.. Not always in whatever happens to work out best, but not without reason, whether nearly on target or sadly later even determined to be a bit far fetched.
One fact remains is that likely all would agree, that to be kind to partner (or perhaps oneself)
when what arises goes awry, will have a better effect, both as a learning experience and even
more so, with that player’s later performance.
We all appreciate though, perhaps to different degrees, the humanity you first uncover and then kindly share.
