HI Folks,

Nice to see we’re back! Good ploy today which is also worth a shot with declarer having (say) Jxx in dummy opposite AQ8xx in hand. After small to the Q, South’s only chance normally is to hope for Kx on his right. Dumping the 10 or 9 from 109x as West gives a losing option.

Regards,

Iain

Also, I loved today’s comment!

Hi Iain,

Much thanks for the welcome back. It has been our longest spell without consultation and I, for one, have missed it greatly.

Hopefully the gremlins who induced it (I have no idea what happened) are ashamed of themselves and no doubt, in pain, are also connected to the worldwide pandemic.

First, apologies are in order for all our friends, bridge impresarios and assorted genius’. Next, to the horrific delay for valuable bridge discussions where all of us, certainly including moi, have benefited from different (not always more accurate nor effective) but instead downright challenging to our bridge minds.

Next, the realization that we, from over the entire world, are connected by the common love we have for our foundational game of choice. With that in mind, and at least to me, we are indeed blessed to exchange our opinions designed for critique, but most times hoping for agreement.

Cutting to the chase, no doubt South (call him in common supply and for many moons) a fit finder, who, after doing so with an appropriate term, IN SPADES, jumps to slam with a rank minimum in values, but oh does that hand fit, with sensational value in both the right cards matching the suits they are in (only the spade nine is missing).

However, with stellar play, success occurred, giving NS (especially South, something to talk about for quite a while).

In any event, thank you all for your infinite patience and a sincere happy face by me to return to what I sincerely love to do.

BTW Iain, I heartily agree with you about today’s quote, making politics a significant vice, better left to others and only sometimes reminded by bridge players, often wrong as they can be, expressing their side, but leaving out salient necessities better off for them in order to convince what they hope to be, gullible listeners.

Hi Bobby,

Many thanks for that and a quick question. If anyone has any questions or comments from the last week;s hands or so, do you still want them posted or is it better to move on?

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

At least to me, the more pertinent questions the better, with the only caveat, perhaps a precise reference to the hand in question due to the passage of time from pillar to post.

Thanks for the valuable post concerning our many faceted game, calling for more discussion
than other faulty impersonations of competitive
endeavors.
