Only as idle conversation, but methinks if and when cheating at bridge occurs (as it likely will) and the cheating player or pair becomes formally known (likely with some punishment, but sadly to be reduced by organizations fearful of being sued (IOW, cowardly not doing their obvious job of containing decorum within as well as respect for the game itself) when he, she or they return, much more quickly than they should, then whichever section they may be in, alert all their opponents (to be played) of their presence, along with the facts and be sure to bring up the subject of cheating, its value Ha! Ha!, and its destruction (not so funny) so the “bad guys” will soon learn that their early return is not going to be as civil as they would like.
Perhaps the above can be improved upon, but, until it is, I think it will have an eventual devastating positive effect for others who may be considering likewise falling from grace.
Yes, sort of like Hawthorne’s “Scarlet Letter”, but many years later, let us give him the credit he probably deserves.
