Hi Bobby,
Just as well west had decent diamonds and an alternative to a club lead. Otherwise declared has a really easy time on a club lead.
Regards,
Iain
Hi iain,
Yes, you brought up a cogent point, especially since the opening leader’s partner had opened one club and he, the opening leader, had a singleton.
However, by holding four trumps himself, this hand tends to emphasize that possible defensive advantage when holding QJ10 of another suit.
No doubt our game is very unpredictable, but and indeed, arithmetically scientific. IOW, both offense and defense are often subject to being tested, but by gaining the experience from it, many fight through to follow the Yellow Brick Road to success, but not without, at least some “wicked witches” along the way.
Finally and perhaps after arriving, finding the so-called wizard behind the drapes, nothing but a fake, may be akin to representing the cheating going on, but unlike Dorothy waking up from a dream, worldwide honest bridge players definitely have to totally eliminate it, if high level, face to face bridge, is ever again, going to flourish and reach the heights it richly deserves.
