Hi Dear Mr Wolff
Perhaps it will s much better to win the lead in dummy and advance heart J. East doesn’t have any reason to rise , west wins and with his club holding , virtually no west would find the club shift . Most probably he would continue with another trump and declarer makes five. Even if west can find club K shift, declarer still makes four and even if the heart honors are interchanged and in the hypothetical case east plays K and shift to club, declarer still makes four.

Hi AVRR,

Thanks for pointing out other successful lines of play for this hopefully reasonable, but fruitful Monday hand which echoes common thought and basic declarer’s play.

For relative newcomers, this type of timing is often necessary in spite of the admonition most get of “Get the kiddies (trumps), off the street first”. sometimes a necessary effort, but as we’ve discussed here, the correct timing of this hand demands care and importantly is not rare in occurrence.

I and certainly others need (and I think do) appreciate your usual trip through the declarer (and occasional defender, play) which will always make the task to victory that much simpler.

In other words, MUCH THANKS for your constant effort to make us all better players.
