Hi Bobby,
Very surprised at South’s 3S bid today – wouldn’t 3D have been much simpler. North bids 3N, flat board. There again. we’d have missed the impressive piece of declarer play. Does it make any difference if West ruffs the second clunb (which looks wrong) and plays a heart through though?

Hi Iain,
I do not believe that defense defeats the spade game,since the timing is such that after the clubs then become established East, in spite of his remaining three trump, becomes unable to ruff in effectively with his remaining Q86 thus is only able to score up only his high trump.
Yes, I agree with you that deciding South had a negative response and also his not having 5+ spades for his premature spade bid both perhaps were left not earlier discussed.
Let’s leave this final contract, a 4-3 fit, not one of Sonny Moyse’s finest hours, at least with this layout, as against 3NT.
