Hi Bobby,
I’m not sure 6 IMPs would have helped that much but a good hand, instructive point and a reminder that “It never rains but it pours.”
Regards,
Iain
Hi Iain,
And sometimes. but perhaps more often than likely, bridge mirrors life and sneaks up with little to no warning, causing havoc, not to mention embarrassment.
And knowing Steve Garner, I 100% believe his reason was what he said it was, “if he paused before following suit, then played, his action might be considered unethical, designed to give his partnership an advantage he would never think of doing”.
Thus it, years later, is written up as a bridge hiccup, but less damaging to the game than what he would consider much more flagrantly wrong, wounding the game in a more damaging way.
Orchids to him, instead of ugly weeds, for his correct order of proprieties.
Hi Bobby,
For cheats John Wyndham’s fictional triffids would be perfect. All we need is a way to create and control them but the novel notes the risks.
