Just out of interest, who was Peter Weichsel partnering here? I know for years he played with Alan Sontag.
He also avoided the trap of hoping East had HAxx or similar when leading a heart to the King and a heart back doesn’t work as East can still ruff the 4th club high and the defence make their high trumps separately. Just as well dummy had the H8, though.

At this point I am not sure, although many years later, my former partner, Bob Hamman
struck up a formidable partnership with Peter. However in 1999 it is possible that Peter may not have had an established partnership with anyone to whom he often played.
I’ll try and find out and eventually, if not sooner, hopefully let you know.
