Hi Bobvy,

With regard to Good Suit’s query, what version of 2N query do you recommend? Ogust is popular and easy but I preferred 2M 2N having the following responses:

3M is minimum
4M is maximum but not AKQ
3N is AKQxxx (rare but useful)
3 of anything else is a feature with middling strength, so acting as a trial bid e.g. Q10x.

Also, what is the best use of 2H 3S?

Merry Christmas,

Iain

Hi Iain,

From both my personal experience and what seems logical, and since likely all versions, most all recommended methods are within micro little more or less come to the same
value. If that is true, (and I 99% agree with it, at least with sane players) then the better response to that partnership will be what they should decide on, as a pair. If they do not agree than seek out the medium compromise.

The only forced common denominator should always be for absolutely never a forget, otherwise. even one time, that fact alone is enough to make it the wrong choice.

IOW, AFAIC, draw eligible possibilities out of a hat is a reasonable solution, if neither partner objects. Each choice has advantages and disadvantages so it just all depends
on what happens later and since that is totally unpredictable let the luck of the draw
determine. However, keep in mind that artificiality favors the defense for directing leads by either passing for not or doubling for do, so that fact alone might be a clue for two non-crazy partners to always consider.

If the truth really demands to be known, I wouldn’t be surprised, if it could be measured to just make a decision and live with it, limiting the opening leader to lesser information, both offensively and on defense.

Hi Iain,

Sorry for ignoring your final question. Again it could be GF with spades or shortness for a possible heart slam, not to mention possibly preemptive in spades or even a 6-5 great minor suit hand, but again even one forget is not worth playing anything abnormal.

Hi Bobby,

Many thanks for that.
