Hi Bobby,
The importance of that signal at T2 cannot be overstated. Suppose East just blindly signalled length by playing the 5 then the 2. Now has South got his actual hand or (say) KQx Qx AQ10x QJxx?
regards,
Iain
Sorry, make that DAQ10xx CQJx in the hand above. the quoted hand is cold off regardless!
OK, DAQJxx. I hate Mondays!
Hi Iain,
Sorry to hear that, since Monday’s have always spoken well about you, but, perhaps since
they always bat lead-off, when pitchers are the least tired, and cards are confused as to
whom they want to be held.
Also, for a small fee, tell them the problem, they will then create the hand, which definitely
is soothing for the bridge nerves.
Hi still again, Iain,
But with DAQJxx, CQJx, South would likely think he is too strong (15-17) to open 1NT
then subtracting the jack of clubs. Such can be the frustration, for the bridge writer.
Hi, still, again, Iain, Iain
I hate Tuesdays!
