Hi Bobby,
What a nice Christmas present to us readers to have your sage stories of bridge to be returned to us. I think that means you must have been good all year 😉
Steve
Well, Steve, we know it can’t be me!
Bob Lipton
Hi Bobby,
A stray thought here before Jim2 asks. If North kicks off with Flannery, what should South bid?
Regards,
Iain
Hi Steve & Bob,
Good is certainly a relative term and speaking of relatives, if one has a sister. who is known to be a good lay, should we be proud or just stating tales, or is it tails.
Since I have no sister I can speak boldly, which sounds closer to badly, likely
thought to be bawdy, but really a bridge to nowhere. Finally, back to our main subject to which I had to promise to be good all next year, no doubt, a mean task. And speaking of mean………..
Hi Iain,
Bid the Hogs favorite contract, 3NT, and at the same time appear to accidentally show West, opening leader, only the Qxx of clubs. The key to winning is to never be conservative, when others might think a misfit exists.
Likely the reason for your query is only to beat Jim2 to the microphone, but two tricks in each suit while declaring 3NT sometimes and somehow may add up to nine.
I saw this last night and wanted to simply shake my head.
3N would certainly seem the practical bid, but there are response conventions to Flannery that begin with South bidding 2N.
See: https://www.bridgebum.com/flannery_2d.php
However, I think South should have either a stronger hand (and have slam interest) or maybe be exploring 3N and ready to shift to (probably) 4H if the Flannery bidder is short in the suit the responder does not have well stopped.
Hi Jim2,
Likely the only chance for you to before hand learn about what you need to know before deciding, is to arrange your partnership, to use benches, rather than chairs.
