Impressive defense by East. I found your comment that West needed to switch at trick two very interesting. Should he have worked out that the second club wasn’t going anywhere?
Maybe this hand might demonstrates what you constantly preach: focus, focus, focus, every card on every hand. I’d like to think I’d pass the test on this hand, but realistically….probably not. Cashing the second club “before the rats get at it” and then switching to a heart just seems like the most natural thing in the world. A little thought though shows that it is unlikely the rats are going to make an appearance. South would have to be able to discard two clubs from hand before your side could get back in. That seems very unlikely. Whereas cashing the second club could easily give the hand away.
But it did give East a chance to demonstrate her skills. After that first duck, I can’t find any way for South to save the hand. Nicely done!
