Hi Bobby,

East should have read Virgil’s Aeneid about the fall of Troy – Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes (I fear the Greeks even when bearing gifts). An amusing take on the story was provided by UK fantasy writer Terry Pratchett where the defenders ask why does a sacrificial wooden horse need air holes?

A worthwhile bit of advice to all bridge players although coping with the infamous Grosvener coup / gambit remains a problem.

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

By contrast, we do NOT have to be aware of your bearing murderous advice on bridge defending, and almost all other excellent bridge playing necessities, with possibly, and just occasionally, overbidding the only flaw.

But, please, do not ask me to define my definition of occasional. “No, it does NOT mean almost every, but sometimes he adds an extra point when evaluating his high cards and another to whatever others rely on, for distribution.
