Hi Bobby,
I recall an opening lead problem against 1N 2C 2S 3N where the opening leader held SKQJxx Qx xxx xxx or similar. The suggested approach was a small spade as partner might have Ax, 10x or (as happened) dummy held SAx and declarer had S109xx and blocked the suit (as he hoped) by rising with the Ace at T1.
Regards,
Iain
No doubt, a 4th best lead from KQJxx would be correct on the bidding sequence given and for every reason.
As soon as one, anyone, is chosen to make the choice, 4th best seems clearly right and not for any baffling reason, but rather just down the middle. Must say that, if playing matchpoints, instead of team, that position becomes unclear, but my guess, with everything included, it still may be rated as very close, if not it, as the consensus choice.
Ain’t we got fun?
