The only winning defence here if you’ll excuse the flippancy (which won’t work with hand records, but has shades of Mollo) is for West to find the timely spade switch having managed to slip the SJ to East under the table. It really would take nerves of steel for both West to find the small spade switch and for South to put the 10 in. Nice hand though while the club ruff squeezing West has a certain charm.

Hi Iain,
Why not agree with me when I suspect the word charm, is a perfect word to use when done by someone on one’s team, preferably #1, while the word lucky (in one way or the other), will be likely generally chosen to be used, when instead, the other side reeks the advantage? However, never will anyone be blamed for choosing various positive descriptions, especially always, when one can claim, it was just a mood changer.
