Hi Bobby,

4S X is only one off as the HQ can be set up for a club discard (or for the flashy, sneak a D through to the Q early on, use the HQ for a D discard and throw N in for a club or ruff-sluff). All depends on the quality of the South player here; against a weaker player (albeit NOT RR) give ’em rope. Against a better player, -200 may still be cheap. If you don’t know, give em rope (4 or more tricks are easier than 10 in many cases) and apologise for underestimating them if they bring home the bacon.

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

Since accurate advice, otherwise known as helpful, by you, is expected and better, delivered, we, as a group, continue to seek you out, whenever, but always when we
are in need of a good result.

However an apology from some often sounds like a criticism, sometimes eliminating civility, but the rope you speak of, while no doubt waiting to be given, sometimes depends on what has happened lately, rather than long ago, a relatively few hands back.

Bridge itself entertains (broadly speaking), but sometimes it gets kind of nasty, a special
condition, better left to other tables, otherwise if done, will eventually restrict the client tell
to only the best players, which, no doubt, will make it a little tougher to almost always have the largest and most often and formidable, last gloat.

Hi Bobby,

Thanks for that and what would the best line be without the double? If trumps are 3-2 abd D not 4-0 then cashing DA, spade AK and leading a D to the K10 finessing if West plays small works well but how best to safeguard vs 4-1 without the give away? Skid recalled a cautious expert safety playing a hand vs a 4-0 break and going off when they were 2-2!

Regards

Iain
