A few weeks ago my partner spurned such a “rookie” play at T1 in a suit contract (with Kx oppsite 10xx in hand or something similar) and played for RHO to get it wrong with AJxx(x) r similar by ducking. LHO, a keen but weak player, had underled an Ace at Trick 1!
I saw the funny side rather mre than he did.

It should never be miss understood that the one player there is no winning defense against is your own partner.
