Hi Bobby,

If West does have C109x (shifting South’s C9 to West), she should be playing the C9 as a standard false card to give declarer the chance of thinking she has C109 alone and that East has ducked (sensibly) with Kxx. I’m not sure that 5D as a save would appeal to EW here but 4S might – East has two of them after all.

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

Your above text is picture perfect in the description of what to ALWAYS do when, and of course, when the opportunity presents itself. Continuing on, it is also why you and, also of course, wonderful, thoughtful and dedicated bridge players like you, are so valuable to the future careful handling of our future in the hoped for, many years to come.

Sadly, our world is not and cannot be expected to overcome every hardship run into, and possibly here, because of the cheating crises, we have lost, at least some momentum in
the establishment of our game as the “best ever”, in all areas of competition and several of us, perhaps many more than even we expect, will cast our future on people like you
who go to such extremes to move mountains which, then echos our beautiful presence.
