Hi Bobby,
I love the quote today which reminded me of a website called “despair.com”. See for example their similar take on the comment:
https://despair.com/products/mistakes?variant=2457302467
In terms of the LWTA hand, is there any case for playing the opening 4N as being a good 5m pre-empt? If it ever csme up (it ewas very rare) I used to play the 4N opening as asking pard to bid 5C with no Ace 5 of a suit (or 6C) with that Ace and 5N with two aces. Comes in handy with KQJ AKQJxxxxx A None but how often do you get such monsters? 2C 2D 3H also does the trick here setting H as trumps and asking pard to cue bid any Ace they hold – assuming of course that the oppo haven’t blasted off in a minor first.
Regards,
Iain
Hi Iain,
Your bridge early past seems to represent an ever desire to devote every sinew of
both strength and learning to a bidding system, that not only covers the waterfront, but if so, could be the Atlantic ocean.
My experience sort of suggested to put pause to such gambles and list the reason for keeping up, as just too risky, making doing so, a tug too much. Yes, it might also be fun to explain, but the possible (or the probable for sloth), outweighs the happy feeling.
However, if and when playing a top pair who likes to spend before time carefully discussing each other’s system, the first advantage would no doubt be to you and yours, if and hopefully so, they listened carefully, especially so, if they tried then to remember.
Just listening to the details will wear out almost every pair who, after this experience,
were left with that heavy burden of bearing down. However, tell us if by doing it, there
are unseen advantages?
