A really far out possibility here if West had DAQ alone, but chucked a heart then the DA. East would have to keep his 2 small Ds (or st least one) but South would surely take the bait here.

Hi Iain,
Much frivolity can lead to many variations, but, while on defense, if West, my first discards will likely be the six and then deuce of hearts followed by the small diamond, unless playing against someone who specializes in bridge psychology, then only the Shadow may know what will work and what will not. Generally, the better or instead, the more experienced the opponents, the more they may fall for complete honesty.
IOW, who in the world will ever know what to do, but try the way I suggest and in my fondest dream it will work.
