Hi Everyone,

And when discussing bridge cheating, if anyone ever mentions “Protecting against the few bridge cheaters iin this world is an exercise in futility, since it is very rare that occasional cheating helps that much”.

That is, until this hand arises and so does East’s ace of hearts get played at trick one, with down two doubled the final result. Makes for sheer hate as did some so-called magical bridge partnerships and teams in the past who relied on that to make up for
many very weak spots among its highly overrated overall team. We all know who I am referring to and a huge pox to their memory. Very, very sad, since that particular team
no doubt, had three superior players, but even though they were, no way in the world
would they have had close to the success they did have, without the overwhelming cheating that was going on continuously.

Sad to recall, but worse not to recall it, if only for the reason of depriving so many honest players the right to win, to which they were eminently entitled.

Hi Bobby,

I’m reading in parallel the books by Reese and Truscott on the 1965 Buenos Aries scandal. Very interesting but also rather odd. Ironically if East today knows West has one heart (via finger signal which was alleged) the defence is easy.

regards

Iain
