Hi Bobby,
A little knowledge can misfire here (or even a lot of it). Mrs Guggenheim would probably start with HA, then CA on which East would encourage with the 10. C to the K, C ruff and goodnight!
I remember Hugh Kelsey (I think in his book on bridge odds for practical players with Glauert) quoting a hand where a typical player would take one of 2 finesses. He came up with something that subsequent analysis suggested was closer to 97% and the 3% or so promptly bit him in the behind. Maddening, but such stories feed articles and even provide the material for good books.
Regards,
Iain
Hi Iain,
Yes, right on both counts, except in truth, where, on your last line above, perhaps the word interesting, might instead be substituted, to replace good.
That is, unless that special book, was basically written only for entertainment, and not bridge
education. However, as long as the aspiring reader,
could stomach his right percentage play being drowned by anti decent luck forces, that too, is likely and entirely, worth noting.
