The late Terence Reese would have nodded his agreement with you here. He was very anti weakish 2 syuited overcalls for helping declarer in the bidding and play.

Yes, especially when he knew his partner, usually Boris
Shapiro, from the get go, was very weak, and his side was not going to be a bidding factor. Roll on, sweet chariot!

And I spoke too fast when I wrote about Boris. simply because he was only not up to Terence in overall bridge
ability, not many were, but well able to hold his own against most.
