Are there any computer programs out there which could assess different lines of play vs different distributions? Would need heavy number cruching tbf.

Dealmaster Pro can do that. I used to use it for exactly that purpose, but that was 30 years ago and I have forgotten how. It worked wonderfully. One way in which I used it was to see which of two or more possible uses for a bid would occur most frequently.
