Hi Everyone,

I know, I know if I was East and heard that bidding and then peeked at the vulnerability, anyone worth his salt, would chirp 5 clubs and take his beating of -300, but only if doubled.

It so happens that according to all (or at least most) high cards a preference to sit NS, if for no other reason, than to make presentation more comfortable.

And look what happens, East now get blessing #1, he gets to declare, then #2 he, after some discord, proves it to be a worthwhile sacrifice, and then,
the thrill of showing those low life opponents how the spade game was cold with 100 honors. A winning trifecta! “Aren’t We Devils?” or is it, “A’int?

Of course, west might have both minor suit jacks and two low spades.

Hi Bob,

While confessing that is true, wouldn’t it be a keen story for the declarer to being among the few players to ever lose a non-ruffing trick to the queen, while holding a singleton or even doubleton Q, when it began life directly in front of AKJ109xx.
