If East had 9say) HQ10x here, isn’t a switch to the HQ worth a try, in the same way that there is an autmotatic false card f the Q from HQ10x when declarer leads from xxx in hand towards AJ9(x) on table (or, funnier, if South has K8x and takes a finesse of the 8 on the way back.
