Hi Bobby,

If West plays the H4 at T2 the situation is clear but what if he conceals it smoothly. Now declarer may get naive and trust H to be 4-4 or even assume West has found a lucky lead from 1076. Worth a try anyway.

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

Because in what I believe that both IMPs and rubber bridge are real bridge, since the emphasis in both are making and setting contracts and not beiing bothered by overtrick(s).

Therefore, since your point will only have to do with a conceded overtrick if diamonds break, but only if hearts are 5-3 (the opening leader is presumed the one who will have 5) the second heart needs to be taken in order for NS to be able to score up its contract.

Obviously the contract was against (close) the odds when the deal started but the lucky combination of the KQJ standing alone when East intervened with the good news as long as the second heart was taken.
