It looks like a lead in either minor rings the bell, but how is West to know? I seem to remember that East can suggest a lead in dummy’s first-bid suit by doubling the final contract, but I may be imaging that. But even if it was, it is hardly guaranteed that is a good start for the defense.
Maybe East should get it right and rise with the ace at trick 2, easier said than done though.
Oh, and a PS, my wife and I are heading to London in about a month, first trip for me, third for her so she has done most of the planning for sight-seeing. Anyone know of any hidden gems I can bring to her attention?

HI Folks,
In the 1950s one London club had a scheme where strong players (including Adam Meredith) sat behind club players in high stakes games with a bell which they rang when a mistake was made (almost always in the play apparently, rarely the bidding) and the player had to play a small fine unless he could challenge and justify his play when the expert had to cough up rather more. Apparently did wonders for keen improving players.
HI Jeff – check out the Natural History Museum but London is full of weird and wonderful stuff away from the usual tourist trail – an internet trawl may help for museums, churches, art galleries etc.

She is constantly sending me TikToks of hidden gems. We have a few museums on the itinerary, I remember Natural History being mentioned, not sure if it made the cut, I love natural history though, always found it fascinating.
