Hi Bobby,
On pre-empts work’s query, any case for an initial double, converting a heart bid from partner back to spades? It is a stretch, but gets some values across.
Regards,
Iain
Hi Iain,
No doubt, and to tell the truth I think the weak hand should only bid 3 spades, but not without it being close, but if so, the opener with his 6-2-1-4 powerhouse and almost worth a game force from the beginning, if knowing his partner has decent spade support, needs to step up to the plate, quit counting points after finding a fit, and 100% raise to game.
To not do so, should learn to discuss it with someone he trusts who also understands fit finding, where every extra trump is a trick (unless awful luck is in store) and barge ahead with, from then on, a tip which is worth its weight in bridge gold!
Strong letter to follow.
