HI Bobby,

Welcome back and can I ask what happened in the other room in this match? Presumably not a flat board ….

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

I would if I could, but I can’t, so I won’t.

However, since a significant number of partnerships play weak two bids, my money is on South also opening one, but perhaps North either studied before passing or actually incorrectly bidding something, therein silencing East, which then likely resulted in a down one or more likely at least two (possibly doubled), for NS.

All speculation and I’ll do some checking, but likely may come up empty, but odds are, if West also led the diamond ten at trick one, declarer may have started the trumps from dummy at trick two, not having the benefit of knowing they were stacked.

However, more important for you is to not be among those who might wind up a three time loser with being a victim of the pandemic. Yes, a record (or possibly eventually just a tie for one) but like a prizefighter, going down for the count a third time may not have the right result for your family, our bridge site, nor the many other bridge players you serve, by merely your continued educational and entertaining back and forth with your particular style of playing
wide open, especially with devil-may-care enthusiasm, but with a personal habit of total honesty in reporting.

Always thanks for your involvement and better health for your family and especially you.
