Hi Jim2,
Yes, Jim2 sent me this hand, to which East held the Kx of hearts and four small diamonds and he, taking the suggested column line was down two.
No one was really surprised that West didn’t lead, on this bidding, his singleton diamond Q.
Hi Bobby, JIm2,
Firstly commiserations to Jim2 as that really was unlucky; the pigeon of life and TOCM not so much sitting (and doing other things) on your statue as having a severely upset stomach while there for some time – or maybe a whole flock of them.
Still, even a small singleton lead wouldn’t appeal much on that auction. You could all too easily be picking up partner’s holding like KJ9x or similar. Interesting discussions though.
Regards,
Iain
Hi Everyone,
However, to make what happened less painful, someone sitting in Jim2’s direction, while playing matchpoints, made it a point to find and then inform him, that he was indeed sitting in the same direction as he and scored up +420 on that board, but received only 1 match point for it.
Yes, it is difficult to understand just how exactly +420 was scored except to surmise that some kind of unsafety play was made in trumps, but no ruff was then forthcoming.
— sigh —
It’s true! ALL of it … and soooo much more!
