Hi Jim2,
There is another bid that shows a weak Flannery called sparts where that hand qualifies if you open 2 of them. Also, even if you open Flannery and the opponents then reach 3 NT your partner would have been dealt s. Jxxxxx, h. Kx, d.xxxxx c.void and although they competed to 4 spades the opponents bid 5 clubs and made it (losing 2 heart tricks) while at the other table your teammates did not open Flannery and therefore led a spade against 3NT, causing their opponents to still be taking tricks

The opponents finally completed their route, scoring up 3NT with 5 overtricks +750, 1 spade, no hearts, 5 diamonds, and 8 club tricks. No questions asked!
