ON BWTA how would playing pairs influence your decision? For that matter, if partner bid 1N not 1S, is there more of a case for 2H?

Hi Iain,
Very little, since buying the hand over a 1NT response would appear to be a good thing, but a one spade response (together with the opponents remaining quiet) might cause the opener to expect partner to have a worthwhile hand, therein looking for needed accuracy rather than stealth.
Yes, I would probably just rebid 2H if partner responded 1NT, in answer to your query, but look fierce while I bid it, in order to scare those cowardly opponents from balancing.

Hi again Iain,
If partner only replied 1NT over my 1H opening, methinks I would need to be frothing at the mouth and screaming while I do it, in order to buy this hand (void in spades and all)

Hi Bobby,
I’m sure glad you added that last comment. I was wondering just how fierce you would have to be to keep the opponents from balancing after 1H, 1NT, 2H. Now, I know – frothing and screaming. 🙂
