On BWTA, would you regard the hand as too strong for a Weak Jump Overcall (given the 2 Aces) or would it depend on Vulnerability and form of scoring?
On the play hand, East might as well play DA and another at T1 if he’s going to play that when in with the HA. After all partner might have a singleton diamond and weaker trumps e.g. holding Kxxxx 9xxx 9 10xx.
I’d dispute the quote today, although I can see where he is coming from. Life boils down to “Make more of something like me” in cynically simplistic biological terms – look at salmon hurling themselves up rivers to spawn or sea urchins each releasing millions of eggs very few of which survive.

There are really very few specific boundaries for a weak jump overcall, as long as the suit is decent (such as what the 10 of diamonds does for that suit). Remember an opponent has already shown an opening bid, therefore strongly decreasing what partner can usually deliver. IOW, that procedure is basically “catch as catch can”.
Please excuse me not accepting your invitation to see salmon and sea urchins releasing eggs (not necessarily because I like them sunny side up)
but I do think, in spite of its unseemly sexual habits, I still get that thought,
but still prefer sexy girls (my age just tapped me and wanted a word).
