Why not play the quees on the first trick? If East plazys the King, you have another entry.

Hi John & Robert,

Both of you answered logically, but to John, what if East had another holding then K10, all he would need do is duck and away your needed entry would fly. And, of course, the odds would certainly be against East having, exactly Kx. What is more, is that the very point you bring up often is decided by percentages, not by hoped for miracles.

You can see, that if East had three or more of that suit or if West held the king, declarer would have to play his ace at trick one just to unblock his needed way to the dummy so that the only sure way to have that happen is to play low from dummy and ace from hand.

Therefore, simple logic revolving itself around numbers can be said to be the overriding quality necessary to become very good at this difficult game.
