Hi Dear Mr Wolff
That ruffing with A of diamonds is very instructive. South can thank partner for providing both A and Nine of diamonds. And interestingly, the hand is cold even on a trump lead. South plays low from dummy, wins in hand whether east covers or not , draws two more rounds of trumps ending in dummy, leads A of spades , ruffs spade, crosses to club K, leads Q of spades pitching a club. West wins but dummy becomes good

Hi AVRR,

Always thanks for injecting the truths and whys during your excellent analysis. You both tend to simplify the process, which to some is a more than necessary amplification (of course, not to anyone we have gotten to know and then learned to love).

As I have learned, every now and then a not thought of different line of play or perhaps only a spanner in the works, if some unlikely event did happen, might cause a different line to be better percentage. However with yours and others bridge intellect protecting me and us, I
feel that together we will get the job done.

Please keep it up and also enjoy the process of helping others improve their overall bridge games.

Hi Bobby,

This is the trickiest sort of hand I always feel where there are numerous options. I suspect that I underestimate the effectiveness of cross-ruffs but there is still the principle of needing to cash all the side suit winners first.

Iain
