Hi Bobby,

Very instructive hand – thank you. Is there any single dummy way of coping with East holding (say) A xxxx K10xx A9xx or A xxx K10xx A9xxx although the first might open 1D or even pass? Double dummy isn’t too bad here of course.

Regards,

Iain

Hi Martin,

Please forgive the greeting, but I am trying to economize those expensive letters.

Yes, there is a tried but, not so true way, by sneaking a peek at either one of your opponent’s hands, and if, as the melody goes, it is worth 2 finesses, you will get to go back to GO, but perhaps spend a little jail time.

As Frank Sinatra sang about doing it his way, whatever it takes is an answer.
And BTW, there is such a thing as triple dummy. At least now, there is.

Alao on FacebooK and almost everywhere I do NOT know how to respond. Nothing works for me!
