In BWTA, too bad there was not a way to look for a 4-4 spade fit earlier in the auction.

Hi Jim2,

You’re up early!

Hi Bobby,

Interesting SJ play – it can’t cost given that East has the S7 unless South has SAQ alone but then is West leading the S4 then? I suppose it could be MUD from 543 though. Otherwise declarer will (and did) run the spade return to dummy so it is indicated but I would have missed it I admit. NS might have settled for punishing 2S but where would the interest have been then? Do you prefer 2S or X with the East hand incidentally?

Regards,

Iain

Hi Jim2,

Question of the day, week, month, year, decade and finally century, at least it feels that
spades of Flannery fame is far and away the master suit and cat’s meow in contract selection.

Who can argue, but if Jim2 was a busy lawyer, those poor four other suits (including NT) will feel abused.

Hi Iain,

Yes, and often mentioned, just to remind everyone on the fence, how can any sane person
challenge bridge as, at least, on a par with chess, for spotting loop holes.

Hi again Iain,

Clearly 2 spades, since all possible EW games have to do with the majors, right Jim2,
Also giving hearts a small compliment on other choices when hearts are 5+.
