Hi Bobby,

An interesting and instructive hand but look at those round suits and think of the potential for TOCM. If Jim2 were at the helm, his best line would probably be to feign a mild temporary seizure.

Regards,

Iain

Hi Iain,

Thanks for the kind words about today’s challenge.

However for poor Jim2 to have to feign anything, especially during one of
his declaring opportunities is nothing but under kill. He declined a 40% slam during the bidding and then took a safety play to ensure his game, knowing full well that, since he didn’t bid the slam, all suits would break and, of course, finesses work, thereby making an overtrick, but salvaging one match point from a declarer who had bid a grand slam, but had mangled the play.

After the game, his students met and listened to his always wise teachings,
whereupon he was told by everyone that he was by far, the best pure bridge player in the room, and they were rewarding his day’s effort with a special
award, his money back from the entry fee, since he was such a mench, with his bridge time for others.

Not ever the same thrill as winning, something for him, never experienced,
but his marvelous contributions will be always sincerely appreciated.
