Why play a top diamond at the second trick, rather than the AH?
If the AH is played at the second trick (and the KH falls), does that change the line of play?
For example, declarer could now play for either the spade ace OR the club king onside.
Hi Jim2,
Yes, you are (as usual) likely 100% correct with your suggestion, but methinks, at least some knowledge of what to expect in trumps, might preclude a different choice at trick two, therein just another reason to play the ace of hearts first.
What I am trying to say is that I agree with you, but have no way to prove it, other than just add on another excuse for the early timing. Also, while writing it up, sometimes we
have to overlook minute details in order to have the space available to which it is more likely than the difference to which we are now discussing.
I can hear it now, why has that bloke declared retirement and then reappears? Possibly for sentimental reasons, though I have never been accused of such soft moments.
🙂
Of course, if **I** had been declarer and saw the KH drop at Trick 2, it would have been an accidental play from KJ …
