To answer Jim’s question from yesterday, I am still here and I suspect others are as well. But it is clear by now that Barry either does not know about this page or is just not interested in engaging. I remember first finding this page, oh, those many years ago, and being astonished that THE Bobby Wolff was engaging with just us ordinary mortals. ANYONE could ask him a question and he’d answer, even me, the closest thing this page has to RR.

It demonstrated Bobby’s extraordinary love of the game and a willingness to engage with those who would never reach those lofty heights he attained. And by doing so didn’t he find an amazing bunch of players to bat hands back and forth with? What Bobby did here was the outlier. Barry’s complete lack of engagement is no reflection on him, it is simply the norm.

I miss it. I am an addict and will keep coming here, but it is just not the same without Bobby.

Hi Jeff,

I did contact Barry about this (I met him a couple of times back in the 1980s when he was in the UK) but he wasn’t sure whether he’d be adopting the same proactive approach as Bobby. It looks like not, sadly, although I suspect his playing and writing keep him pretty busy. I’m still glad the column is here, though. Should we start a FB page?

I suppose I could give the cool-kid answer, Facebook? is that still around? But I suspect we are all of an age (mid-60’s in my case) and still use Facebook. 🙂

It might be fun, I love the insights from you and Jim and some of the others. Managing a FB page though might be another matter. Do any of us actually have time for something like that?
