I’ve got to say on BWTA that the conern aboujt spades looks valid. If partner has a heart fit (and 3+ clubs) they’ve surely got a good spade fit so 3C seems more sensible. Unless partner has decided to open 1C with 5 spades and 6 clubs, they surely have 8+ spades. Interesting how fashion changes though; the old advice in Acol (4 card majors) was to open 1C with 5-5 in the black suits; now the need to avoid losing the spades means that 1S is almost automatic.
Regards,
Iain

Also, didn’t South draw the last but one missing trump before leading his D winner at the end?

Hi Iain,
I noticed that too. WIth three cards left, he and East each had two trumps. Either led out the QS, then the diamond or the diamond and then cashed the two spades if East trumped it.
