Hi Folks,
On BWTA I might still be tempted to come in with 2D (having passed) with something like DAQJ10x and maybe a bit outside but then some would open that with a weak 2

in response to Iain’s post, I think the conclusion is that if you had a legitimate shot at opening a weak 2 but did not, you cannot overcall at the 2-level in that suit. Correct me if I’m wrong

Most of the time I think that’s sound but you might have decided that there was a reason not to open a weak 2 e.g. a suit of J10xxxx or maybe 4S on the side with 6H. This doesn’t stop some players of my aquaintance opening such hands weak 2’s but there are some who have more discipline. Against that, you’re now losing the initial pre-emptive value and the oppo are better placed to wield the axe if it is right to do so.
