Hi Barry, Folks,

OK< East is maybe right if South has AJx Kx AK AKQxxx but would South play like that, then? Wouldn't he just bash out clubs from the top after the SJ had held? Surely the 3N is based on a long strong minor but, even then, East is going to get thrown in late on with a spade to let South make his HK if East keeps HAQ. East doesn't actually know which minor South has but it is surely more likely to be clubs than diamonds.

All rather curious on a hand where S J Simon's Mrs. Guggenheim would have taken her 10 tricks quickly. EWs post mortem might have been interesting – well West's comments anyway!
