Perhaps, as the cards lay, even partial elimination and endplaying east in diamonds also will work. For eg., South ducks the lead. East does best by leading another club, south wins, strips spades while drawing two rounds of trumps ending in hand and lead a diamond finessing to east. Luckily for south, since ten of hearts is doubleton with east, he will prevail. But, this play is assuming that east has a doubleton club ( fairly sure after West’s apparently fourth best club lead )

Hi AVRR,
No need for an apology, since our mutual web site is more like a test proving ground, than a contrived, always successful best line contract maker.
Our idea, at least my intention, is to allow bridge lovers (the more talented the better) to discuss their ideas, usually theoretical, but allowing others, when necessary, to voice their opinions or whatever, and even better why, more accurate thinking might create a better percentage line.
The above is what you almost always add to the mix and for that, your contributions as well as other major talents join together with other discussions related to all of us coming together which many times (and all together) helping to reach the very best line, or in more pleasant terms, the eventual goal.
Today’s hand is indeed difficult to figure out what could be the very best line with both overall timing and best percentage discussions with both red suits powerfully determining success or failure.
IOW, thank you for, at the very least, starting the discussion on what line may be best and, of course, why.
Also if one does not at least occasionally admit that an original early thought might be flawed, he or she is being unrealistic as to just how difficult it sometimes becomes to be sure of determining the 100% best line and to think otherwise, is just, as about all top bridge players have learned (some the hard way), that it is almost impossible to not have major setbacks, when attempting to consider both the percentages involved and the evidence, up to a point, of what is then likely known.
IOW, today’s hand seems to fit the above conundrums in determining the best line of play, encouraging others to dive in and lead us to the best play (at least the possibility).
If some may even begin to think that I am passing the buck to them (thus hard work), they are not only right, but are likely under stating it.

And furthermore we all do, making us together a series of bridge lovers trying to piece together what we know about bridge, adding what direction the playing (and bidding) the up to then evidence seem to point, usually voicing an opinion as to what is to be considered from then, but waiting to hear either corroboration or dissent, but never scorn.
From there we can collectively either accept or, if not, state why, and if different, explain, until collectively we either solve or come closer to the better solution, while continuing to await if we missed something critical.
And finally, even if our apparent stumble appeared to be considerable, do not worry since, at least from my experience over time, every one of us, at some point or another, have voiced what we thought as true, but, in fact was not and needed, at the very least, some notation.
Together, as any knowledgeable group would figure to be, very strong, so everyone, regardless of an error, petty or significant, should not feel badly about posting, since without, we will lose much more than we can gain.
IOW, together solving the many bridge mysteries which often make the game as challenging as we know it to be, and no easy task, takes a great deal of both thought and time.
