I was going to ask if you thought south’s 10 count was worth a 2 over 1 GF reply but of course South had originally passed. If South were not a passed hand how should the bidding go (old fashioned methods would allow a non-GF 2H reply of course)?

Yes, and no doubt, once South has passed, that 2 heart response is just too descriptive, instead of the only alternative of 1NT.
However, a strict point counter, who might instead opt for only 1NT (passed hand or not), but will soon learn, that if he wants to ascend from mediocrity, this hand cries out for 2 hearts, although if not having passed, the majority will likely choose 1NT, especially if they ascribe to the current high-level treatment of opening anything resembling an opening bid, and with these red suit intermediates, BTW, responding 2 hearts is instrumental with this hand’s game success, a possible poster child for so doing.
If not opening one heart, how about a weak two bid, which, if in search of a positive swing, is a distinct possibility? Advantages–heart lead and starting the opponents, if necessary, at a higher level, usually both a positive start to success.
Especially when holding hearts rather than spades, since that suit, by its rank, often pays off to its only master and therefore should often consider being bid, while the level is low enough.
However, especially on only one hand, anything could happen, so no guarantees, only brave talk.
