North and East should exchange their low diamonds!
Hi Steve,
Does that help? North and South maybe. I recall a similar hand from Mollo played by Walter the Walrus who just claims 9 tricks in 3N in a similar situation where blockage occurs and nobody notices it. They all then wonder why other tables have gone minus.
Regards,
Iain
Yes, “It was plain as a pike staff.”
Hi Jim2,
We need a “Like” button in the comments, but thanks for the reminder. Which of the “Bridge in the Menagerie” books was it from though?
Regards,
Iain
Hi Steven, Iain, and Jim2,
All well said remarks, but it has become dangerous for me to comment on “pike staff” since it appears to me to be only a “fish with his underlings”.
However, if so, he should allow one of them to sit in his bridge seat, pick up his cards, and then Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy like, fool the card dealer in the sky, and respond to
his every bridge bid and play. To do so, no doubt Jim2’s results would significantly improve, if only for the Halibut.
