5H is cheap – should West have bid 3H to help East judge what to do? OK, easy seeing all 4 hands but 5HX is only one off. Realising that the second heart is going to be ruffed must have been a shock to West; should East have found an alternative to 3C although double hardly appeals as partners tend to blast off in diamonds?
